Brazilian Air Carriers Request More Routes for World Cup

Most people in the U.S. probably don’t realize it, but Brazil is a huge country. Geographically, it is just behind the United States in terms of land mass. Hence, if you’re going to the World Cup, you probably won’t drive from Manaus to Porto Alegre, you’ll need to take a flight. In response, Brazilian airlines, including heavyweights TAM and Gol, have asked the country’s aviation authorities to allow some 1,500 additional flights to meet demand during the World Cup. But, my question is, they’re just now asking for more flights? Come on Brazil, let’s get on with it!
