Brazilian Imports Insider Trading, No Thanks

There are the kind of rich people we like, and the kind we don’t like. The kind we like are the ones who build a better mouse trap, create something that improves everyone’s lives, make the world a slightly better place. The kind we don’t like are the ones who trade on inside information, rig the game, or exchange money and information under the table to their exclusive advantage. Well, a local Brazilian man who lives part-time in Boca Raton may just fall into the latter category. He’s agreed to pay $5.1 million to settle civil charges of insider trading in Burger King securities. Let’s hope this is not a trend of exports arriving at our shores from Brazil.
