Brazilian Oil Concession Goes Global

Amidst heavy security, Brazil’s vast oil reserves were divided up earlier this week, and it looks like a veritable U.N. of oil companies. A consortium including Shell (U.S./Anglo-Dutch), Total (France), two Chinese firms and Brazil’s state-run petroleum company Petrobras won the right to develop an offshore field that could hold up to 12 billion barrels of oil.
