Price Fixing Alleged in Sao Paolo Subway Project

Innocent until proven guilty is the saying in the States when hearing of “alleged” criminal activity. However, when it comes to corruption crimes purportedly perform in Brazil, that mantra might be reversed: Guilty until “proven” innocent. In the FCPA era, it is still hard to believe that international company executives are still brazenly conspiring to rip-off taxpayers around the world. But Brazilian prosecutors believe that’s exactly what happened. They are seeking the arrest of 13 foreign executives from three international companies allegedly involved in a cartel to raise prices for the construction and upkeep of subway and train systems in Sao Paulo.
